On March 31, 2023, His Beatitude Metropolitan Savva of Warsaw and All Poland sent a letter to the rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, Archbishop Sylvester of Belogorod, in which he expressed support for the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Theological Academy.
“The Polish Orthodox Church has always stood and stands for the canonicity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. What is happening today with the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, other monastic centers, temples and your Academy, is an expression of great enslavement and persecution of the Church. On this occasion, we express our regret, offer prayers and join with all those who offer prayers and endure persecution, ”the letter says.
Metropolitan Savva recalled that “there is no one like God! Jesus Christ said: I was persecuted, and you will be persecuted (John 15:20), but remember: I have conquered the world (John 16:33).”
“We spiritually connect with the monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and all those who suffer, deeply believing that Christ’s “sun will shine in your window,” the hierarch emphasized.
