On March 28, at a regular meeting, the Synod of the OCU created the “religious organization Pochaev Lavra” and monasteries in the Drohobych-Sambir and Chernihiv dioceses. The website of the OCU writes about this.

“As part of the Ternopil diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the religious organization “Pochaev Holy Dormition Lavra of the Ternopil diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church of Ukraine)” was created, the archimandrite of which was approved by Metropolitan Nestor of Ternopil and Kremenets.

Monasteries were also created in the Drogobych-Sambir and Chernigov dioceses with the appointment of appropriate leaders. Amendments were made to the charter of the monastery in the Chernihiv diocese in connection with the change of name, ”the Synod’s decisions say.

Commenting on the decision, Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, speaker of the UOC, wrote that the OCU had created today a legal clone of the Pochaev Lavra. What will happen next is already clear on the example of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. With possible variations. The chaos continues. But it won’t last forever.”
