The head of the outreach department of the UOC, Metropolitan Kliment, said that members of the Holy Synod wrote an appeal to President Volodymyr Zelensky and want to personally explain the situation to him as it really is. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

“We have come to convey to the President the position not only of the members of the Holy Synod, but also of millions of believers of the UOC. We believe that the President is not provided with truthful information about the UOC. Judging by the statements that were made, the information about the UOC is distorted and a false image of our believers is created. We have always advocated a constructive approach, striving for the development of relations between the state and the UOC. Such a dialogue is an important aspect that is connected with the development of civil society,” the bishop said.

He spoke about the huge assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and for all those in need during the war. First of all, the hierarch of the UOC emphasized, it is necessary to pay tribute to the defenders and defenders – the believers of the UOC, who today defend our Motherland from military aggression, and some of them laid down their lives for their state.

“The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the Church of Patriots, the Church of the Ukrainian people, there is no need to fence off the citizens of Ukraine with fences. Believers of the UOC deserve to be heard, and that the state does not treat them as second-class people, so that there is no enmity in society. I would like to hope that the leaders of our state will be able not only to hear, but also to see the specific deeds that believers carry out daily for their homeland,” said Metropolitan Kliment.
