Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed), the abbot of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, in an interview with the UOJ said that for the Patriarch of All Rus’ “Ukraine, Russia and Belarus should be equally important.”
The bishop noted that the UOC does not agree with the position of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church regarding the war in Ukraine.
“There are some points that were said by the Patriarch. He spoke them for his people, and we speak in defense of our people. <…> If he is a Patriarch for everyone, then he had to find other words, give parting words for the Ukrainian soldiers, for the Ukrainian people,” the governor said.
The hierarch stressed that neither he nor the Ukrainian Orthodox Church had anything to do with Russia and the Moscow Patriarchate.
“I have nothing in common with the Moscow Patriarchy. Yes, I communicate and will communicate with friends, bishops, priests, we are a single whole. Just as I communicate with Patriarch Theophilus, as we communicate with other Local Churches.”

Церковь в России всегда была со своим народом, и Патриарх Кирилл ничего никаму не должен.
