Head of ROCOR urged to pray for peace and support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On Friday, February 3, the Diocesan Council of the Eastern American Diocese held its quarterly meeting remotely. Metropolitan Nikolai of Eastern America and New York opened the meeting and, after a prayer, greeted the members of the Council. The ROCOR website reports this.

In his speech, the bishop stressed “the need for the clergy and faithful of our diocese to continue to pray for peace and support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine.”

Metropolitan Nikolai also noted that the believers of the canonical Church on the territory of Ukraine “live in extremely difficult conditions, and while we have pre-monastic festivities, pancakes, etc. in the coming weeks,” he reminded that these events “were held calmly, remembering our persecuted brothers and sisters in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.”
