People’s Deputy Fyodor Venislavsky: Verkhovna Rada will soon adopt a law to ban the UOC

On February 10, 2023, the people’s deputy from the Servant of the People, the representative of the President of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada, Fyodor Venislavsky, gave an interview to rbc.ua, in which he stated that the Verkhovna Rada, with a high probability, would soon adopt a law banning religious organizations, the center whose administration is located outside of Ukraine in a state committing armed aggression against Ukraine.

The MP said that the Cabinet of Ministers had registered a relevant draft law in the Parliament.

“I think that we will adopt this law in the near future,” he said.

According to Venislavsky, the bill is under consideration in the committees and there is time to submit alternative drafts.

“As soon as the procedural deadlines provided for by the law on the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expire, the relevant committee will give its consent, and the likelihood that it will find a sufficient number of supporters in the hall is very high,” the people’s deputy said.
