We must strive for speedy reconciliation – Exarch of Belarus on the situation in Ukraine

The spiritual and ethnic community of the peoples of Russia and Ukraine obliges them to immediately restore peace, and the Orthodox clergy should render assistance to such reconciliation. The Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, told journalist Khristina Glushko in an interview published on the website of the Belarus Today Publishing House on February 8, 2023, Pravlife writes.

“It is important for us that peace come,” the exarch assured. – After all, the fact that the brothers quarrel, they do not cease to be close to each other. By virtue of spiritual and blood kinship, by virtue of the community of saints, we must strive for speedy reconciliation and ask the Lord to manage everything in the best way. Therefore, in the sermon, the priest must carry words of consolation and reconciliation, but in no case should aggravate the division.

According to Metropolitan Veniamin, Belarus found itself in a difficult situation “between two brothers who have entered into a big conflict,” and one should not get involved in this confrontation on the side of any of its participants, but follow the Lord Who desires salvation for all.

“We pray that people in their earthly affairs seek God’s will and strive to follow it. Through the clergy, the Church addresses specific people, everyone “desires to be saved and to come to the understanding of the truth,” said the Primate of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
