It may seem strange to some, but the difficult situation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has an extremely positive effect on the formation of the anti-church image of the OCU. An elementary law of physics works – every action causes a reaction. In fact, we do not need to do anything in order for the OCU to simply push out any hints of churchness from its midst.
For several years, in opposition to the principles of the Gospel, representatives and supporters of the OCU have been seizing churches with their fists. A recent concert in the Refectory Church of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, taken from the Church by their “mercy”, did not find condemnation on their part, and some “prominent” figures of this organization even tried to justify what had happened. Their head, Dumenko, who is absolutely unashamed of his status, demands to ban the UOC, deliberately creating unimaginable difficulties for millions of Orthodox fellow citizens.
The other day, another member of this organization, Yevstraty Zorya, rejected the reality of the world-famous and pan-Orthodox recognized miracles that occur annually in the Holy Land. Trying to ridiculously justify the attempt of their structure to please the “customers” by switching to a new calendar, the speaker of the OCU came to the refutation of the Holy Fire, the Miracle of Tabor on the day of the Transfiguration of the Lord and the change in the flow of the Jordan to Epiphany. And all this is only because these arguments are used as an excuse for the need to keep the “old style”.
But it’s very good! No matter how bad and disgusting it looks – it’s good! Denying the sacredness and mysticism of the Church, believe me, these new Renovators will even go as far as denying the Body and Blood of Christ in the Chalice of the Eucharist. Some of their representatives, by the way, are already seriously discussing the reality of miracles from holy relics. Just a few steps remain before the denial of the Miracle of the Eucharist. And this is good because such reflection on their part points to their true nature. More and more we are convinced that there is only one name and uniform from the Church.
Surprisingly, such a secularization of church life in Ukraine will greatly help the true Church. First, thanks to what is happening, those who were with us, but were not ours, will come out of our midst. That is, the Church will be cleansed. Secondly, those who are in search of truth will be able to compare the real Church and the fake, drawing the appropriate conclusions. Thirdly, those who were impressed by the idea of uniting with the OCU will be convinced that today such a scenario is not only disastrous for the entire Church, but also impossible in principle.
“By their deeds you will know them,” says the Gospel. And here the deeds and words are nowhere more eloquent. Trying to define themselves as the Church, these people fell into permanent sacrilege, and the great, as you know, begins with the small. This is how, in small steps, the OCU will come to a great denial of God, forever turning into a funeral services bureau in the service of state interests.
