A temple is taken away from the St. Nicholas community of the UOC of Kremenets

A temple is taken away from the St. Nicholas community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Kremenets, Ternopil region. Raskolam.net learned about this from its own sources. It is reported that the state institution “Kremenets-Pochaev State Historical and Cultural Reserve” notified the rector of the St. Nicholas community of the city of Kremenets, Ternopil region, about the refusal to renew the agreement on the use of the St. Nicholas Cathedral, which is an architectural monument of national importance. The resolution also specifies the requirement to leave the premises of the Cathedral and the complex of premises until February 13, 2023.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that the Kremenets regent’s school, which is one of the largest in Ukraine, is located on the territory of St. Nicholas Cathedral. At the moment, about 100 pupils study at the educational institution. It is characteristic that at the moment the reserve has not yet made a decision to transfer the temple to other confessions. After the execution of the decision, the cathedral will be closed.

St. Nicholas Cathedral of the city of Kremenets is an architectural monument and the second cathedral church of the Ternopil diocese of the UOC. The temple is part of the complex of the Kremenets-Pochaev Historical and Cultural Reserve, which also has at its disposal the premises of the Epiphany Convent of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kremenets and the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra in Pochaev. Judging by what is happening, local authorities are aiming to similarly deprive the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and other shrines that are part of the state reserve. Recall that at the beginning of the year, in a similar way, the Holy Assumption and Refectory churches of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra were taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
