St. George’s Church of the UOC in Lviv is proposed to be transferred to the ownership of the city community

The St. George Cathedral of the UOC on Taras Bobanych Street is proposed to be transferred to the ownership of the Lviv city community with the possibility of subsequent use by “Ukrainian religious communities.” A petition has been created on the website of the City Council, the author of which is Andrey Marynyuk. This is reported by the publication tvoemisto.tv.

“The Lviv City Council and the Lviv Regional Council adopted an appeal to ban the activities of the UOC (allegedly not the MP) in the territory of Lviv and the region. Currently, St. George Cathedral is the main center of the UOC (allegedly not the MP, but actually the ROC in Ukraine) in the territory of the Lviv region,” said Marynyuk.

As of now, the petition has garnered 8 out of 500 votes. There are 57 days left until the end of the collection of signatures. After the petition receives the required number of votes, it will be considered by the deputies at the plenary meeting of the city council.
