Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk said that the authorities would “perform any lawful actions, including the termination of agreements” on the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in order to transfer it to the “Ukrainian church.” He told Interfax-Ukraine about this.
“We are following the path not of unfounded statements, but of concrete deeds. If a threat to the security of Ukraine is identified, any lawful actions will be taken, including the termination of contracts. Let me remind you that it was under Yanukovych and Azarov that indefinite contracts were concluded for certain objects. As far as I know, now all of them are being reviewed: a powerful legal service is working to tear them apart, recognizing them as worthless, and transfer them to the Ukrainian Church – for Ukrainian religious organizations. So this case continues,” he said.
