The members of the Holy Synod at the meeting, which took place on December 20, 2022, discussed the artificially increased hostility towards the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
“In the diocesan administrations, churches and monasteries of our Church, as well as the bishops and clergy, searches are being carried out, as a result of which some leaflets appear that never existed, or symbols that can discredit the Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” the final Synod’s document says.
The UOC noted that for the first time in the history of Ukraine, “personal” sanctions were illegally and unjustifiably applied against clergy, the introduction of which blocked the activities of entire dioceses.
