His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, in his sermon on the day of memory of Apostle Andrew the First-Called on December 13, 2022, urged to pray “that the Lord would help us all to be disciples of the Apostle Andrew, so that we would not be blasphemers of God, but glorify Him with our lips, deeds and life, then God’s blessing will be on our land. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

Since on the eve of one all-Ukrainian media showed a program in which insults were heard not only at the clergy and believers of the Church, but also at God, presented in a blasphemous form, His Beatitude noted the following in his sermon: “Of course, it is sad that on this earth, on which the name of God is glorified, words were heard from the lips of some people who blasphemed God, publicly blasphemed God. These people are not disciples and followers of the Apostle Andrew, they are followers of the prince of darkness, who is a theomachist and blasphemer of God.

The Primate emphasized that “we will pray for them that the Lord would give them repentance for salvation, and that they would close their mouths and no longer utter those words with which they blaspheme God and offend the feelings of believers.”

“We pray today that the Lord would help us all to be disciples of the Apostle Andrew, so that we would not be blasphemers of God, so that we would glorify Him with our lips, our deeds and our lives, then God’s blessing will be on our earth. And when the Lord calls us into eternity, we will be able to be where the holy Apostle Andrew is now, who, together with all the saints, stands before the Throne of God and glorifies God alone in the Trinity, ”concluded Metropolitan Onuphry.
