At the last meeting of the government, the State Service for Ethnopolitics was transferred to the direct subordination of the Cabinet of Ministers. According to LB.ua, citing its sources, it is highly likely that the institution will be headed by ex-people’s deputy, adviser to former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk Viktor Yelensky.
As Prime Minister Denys Shmihal noted, the HPS “will be referred to the central executive bodies that report directly to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.”
Now the structural subdivisions of the regional and Kyiv city state (military) administrations on issues of ethnopolitics and freedom of conscience will be accountable and controlled by the GESS. Previously, the activities of the service were coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers through the Minister of Culture and Information Policy.
In addition, the GESS will be reformatted.
