People’s deputy from the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy Nikita Poturaev predicts the simultaneous consideration of bills: No. 8221 on the ban on the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church, its branches and organizations in Ukraine, and No. 8262 on improving the legal regulation of the activities of religious organizations. This is reported by “Ukrainian news”.
Poturaev explained that the recently introduced draft law No. 8262 is primarily aimed at simplifying the transitions from the UOC to the OCU.
“This law is aimed at solving this problem. After the start of a full-scale invasion, we added fuses to it in relation to churches associated with the Russian Orthodox Church, ”says the deputy.
The “fuse” in the document is defined as follows: “the state recognizes the right of the religious administration to be subordinate in canonical and organizational matters to any religious centers operating in Ukraine and abroad, except for foreign religious organizations whose activities are prohibited on the territory of Ukraine in accordance with the Law.”
“We will immediately solve two problems: we will put an end to the existence of the ROC and organizations that continue to be affiliated with it, and we will simplify the transitions,” Poturaev said.
