On November 30, 2022, Petro Poroshenko, on the air of the Pryamiy channel, said that “the issue of considering the constitutionality of the law on renaming churches was on the agenda of the Constitutional Court.”
“We expect that by the end of the year the Constitutional Court will consider and make an appropriate decision. That the government will decide to rename the churches with the obligatory mention of belonging to Russia. That the Moscow Patriarchate will finally decide on complete independence and autocephaly from Moscow and recognize the Tomos granted to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. And he will begin real negotiations on the merger of churches as part of a single Orthodox Church of Ukraine for those who have not been tainted by cooperation with the aggressor country,” Poroshenko said.
“We are not fighting the UOC-MP – we are fighting for Ukraine,” the politician also added.
