The deputies of the Lviv Regional Council, who decided to ban the activities of the UOC in the region, also recommended that the local authorities facilitate the transition of churches from the UOC to the OCU.
“The regional council recommends that the local governments of the Lviv region contribute to changing the subordination of the UOC communities in canonical and organizational matters by organizing and holding a general meeting of religious communities and making appropriate changes and additions to the charters (regulations) of religious communities,” the press service of the regional council reports.
According to the laws of Ukraine, regional councils and local councils do not have the right to prohibit the activities of religious organizations, the newspaper writes.
