MDA professor Archpriest Vladislav Tsypin said that the decision of the Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the resumption of chrism-preparation should not have been taken without the consent of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is reported by TASS.
“It so happened during the last centuries that only autocephalous churches, and even then not all of them, make peace for themselves. Once upon a time, the Kyiv Metropolis brewed myrrh. Having become part of the unified Russian Church, for some time, one or two decades, she brewed myrrh for herself, this was agreed upon. But, of course, now this is a step towards autocephaly, and it should not have been taken without the consent of the Patriarchate,” said the Archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church.
