Ex-People’s Deputy Mykola Tomenko proposed a “legal way” to cancel the transfer of the Lavra to the UOC

Ex-deputy Mykola Tomenko proposed “a legal way for the liberation of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra from the UOC” He writes about this in a blog on the Observer website.

“1.  Appoint a new professional and patriotic leadership of the National Reserve (the current leader has been acting for years and in every possible way protects the governor Pavel and K.);

  1. Prohibit worship by priests of the UOC-MP on the territory of the Upper Lavra in the Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church (this is possible even without breaking the Treaty, since it is the National Reserve that determines and coordinates the time of worship);
  2. Create a government commission to verify compliance with legislation in the field of cultural heritage protection on the territory of the Lower (monastic) Lavra;
  3. The SBU checks the permanent and temporary residents of the buildings of the Lower (monastic) Lavra for the presence of Ukrainian citizenship and the legality of their stay on the territory of our state, ”the ex-people’s deputy writes.
