In Ryngach OCU raiders tried to seize the Ascension Church of the UOC

On November 6, 2022, supporters of the OCU tried to seize the Holy Ascension Church of the UOC in the village of Ryngach, Chernivtsi region, according to the Facebook page of the Chernivtsi diocese.

“Since 2019, the OCU has registered a religious community in the village of Ryngach. For three years, they not only did not build a temple, but they did not even equip a temporary room for prayer. Lazy people who are not able to lift a finger in order to build their shrine, once again resort to violence to rob their fellow villagers,” the message said.

It is also reported that thanks to the actions of the police, it was possible to stop the seizure of the temple of the UOC.

“There is a confrontation, the police are behaving correctly, the believers of the UOC are in the church, the National Guard has stood at the door, they have fenced off our people from the OCU, they are standing on the street, they are not allowed into the church. There was an attempt to break the doors, but it was not possible, only the gates were removed, and now the OCU members are on the territory of the temple. Let’s hope that everything will be in order,” Archimandrite Nikita, secretary of the diocese, said.

The representative of the diocese also said that the supporters of the OCU have registered their community and have nothing to do with the community of the UOC.

“We did not join the OCU, but confirmed our loyalty to the UOC, they have their own community, which is not related to our UOC,” he added.
