The Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO) has asked UNESCO to declare Hagia Sophia in Istanbul a monument in danger.  This was announced on Wednesday to the Greek TV channel EPT1 by IAP Secretary General Maximos Charakopoulos, Blagovest-info reports.

“We have submitted to UNESCO a complete dossier with reports from foreign media, mainly Turkish, that draw attention to the damage caused to the Hagia Sophia in Sofia, and sound the alarm that this monument in 2050, if this mass visit by tens of thousands of Muslims continues,  destruction threatens,” Harakopoulos said.
