Hierarch of the RCC in Ukraine: UOC is the Church of the people

Archbishop-Metropolitan of the Lviv Archdiocese of the RCC Mechislav Mokshitsky said that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the Church of the people, according to the Italian edition Avvenire.

When asked by a journalist about the existence of an Orthodox Church in Ukraine, “associated with the Moscow Patriarchate and uniting the majority of Ukrainian Christians,” Mokshitsky replied that, despite several transitions of believers to the OCU, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church remains the “Church of the People.”

“Are Ukrainian believers to blame for the Kremlin’s invasion?  As noted by the Apostolic Nunciature in Kyiv, we are against any restrictive measures affecting the church community.  Pointing a finger at the tongue or the Church can become a source of even greater pain for the people and inflame divisions that Ukraine does not need,” the Catholic Archbishop of Lvov emphasized.
