The Estonian authorities are demanding that Metropolitan Eugene of Tallinn condemn the statements of Patriarch Kirill in support of Russian soldiers, otherwise threatening to deprive the head of the Estonian Orthodox Church of a residence permit, Interfax writes.
«We would like Metropolitan Eugene to take a position in the publications of the Estonian state media, so that he unequivocally and clearly expresses whether the metropolitan shares the position of Patriarch Kirill or not», – Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets told ERR on Friday.
In addition, according to him, Metropolitan Eugene must convince both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Estonian public that the military rhetoric of the patriarch will not have an impact on the Estonian Orthodox Church.
