Metropolitan Meletyi visited Portugal

The Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovina, was on an episcopal visit to Portugal from September 30 to October 2. This was reported by the press service of the DECR UOC.

On October 1, Metropolitan Meletyi celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Patronal Feast of the Ukrainian parish in honor of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love and their mother Sophia in the city of Braga in the north of the country.

During his stay in Braga, Metropolitan Meletiy met with the Catholic Archbishop of the city, José Cordeiro, and thanked him for helping Ukrainian refugees and for providing premises for worship.

On October 2, the head of the DECR of the UOC visited the Ukrainian parish in honor of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky in Lisbon, where he celebrated the Divine Liturgy.

During his stay in Lisbon, the hierarch of the UOC met with Cardinal Manuel Clementi. Metropolitan Meletiy thanked the cardinal for his comprehensive assistance to all internally displaced persons from Ukraine, and also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to hold regular services for the Ukrainian community in one of the churches of the Portuguese capital.
