On September 3, 2022, Philadelphia hosted a Charity concert by People’s Artist of Ukraine Ivo Bobul in support of the UOC-KP in the United States of America and Canada, as well as all Ukrainian refugees in need of spiritual care. This was announced on his Facebook page by the head of Filaret`s Vicariate in North America, Luka Zgoba.
“The number of Ukrainian refugees in the United States has increased significantly, so there is an objective need to establish new church, cultural, educational and social institutions,” the publication explains.
Luka Zgoba said that the location chosen for the concert was purchased for the Ukrainian community in the city of Philadelphia and “will soon become a religious, social, cultural, educational and artistic center to protect the interests of Ukrainian refugees, migrants of all waves of immigration. It is also planned to equip the temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate in honor of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke, a Sunday school (Junior Orthodox Academy) for growth in faith and the study of the Law of God, Christian ethics, liturgy, church singing, as well as conducting and English languages, history of Ukraine, its culture, master classes in embroidery and fine arts.
The event was attended by Philadelphia City Council member David Oh and Honorary Consul of Ukraine to the United States Iryna Mazur.
