On August 15, 2022, on the feast of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos, which the Orthodox Church of Antioch celebrates according to the New Julian calendar, at the invitation of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Great Antioch and All the East, the representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarchal Throne of Antioch, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), participated in the festive Vespers, Matins and Divine Liturgy at the Assumption Cathedral in Damascus.

The services were led by the Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church. His Beatitude Patriarch John was co-served by Bishop Moses of Darai and Bishop John of Sergiopol, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), the clergy of the Damascus parishes.

The head of the consular department of the Greek Embassy in Syria, Anna Kramarido, was present at the temple.
