Law enforcement officers have opened criminal proceedings against representatives of the “OCU” who had incited inter-religious enmity and organized the capture of the Peter and Paul Church in the village of Khoriv, Ostroh UTC, Rivne region.
Proceedings have been opened under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on the following facts: forgery and use of forged documents, incitement of religious enmity, attempt to seize the church by force, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
“Everyone will be criminally responsible before the law for every illegal act committed,” commented Raisa Dmytrenko, a human rights defender of the Rivne Diocese of the UOC.
It is worth noting that violation of Part 3 of Article 161, inciting religious enmity, is punishable by imprisonment from 5 to 8 years.
