The UOC priest, who left his dignity and went to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was killed in the war

On July 20, 2022, the funeral service for the warrior Bogdan Kaplun was performed in the St. Demetrius Church of the Odessa diocese, the diocesan Telegram channel reports. The rite of burial of the deceased warrior Bogdan, the son of the rector of the temple of the village of Zheltyy Yar of the Tatarbunary deanery district, Archpriest Anatoly Kaplun, was performed by the dean of the Tatarbunary district, Archpriest Nikolai Pavlov, in co-service with the clergy of the district.

Bogdan was 30 years old. He graduated from the Odessa Theological Seminary and, like his father, became a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, serving the Lord and people. After the outbreak of the war, Bogdan felt the need to serve the Motherland and, leaving his dignity, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“He defended his native land and did not spare his life to bring our common victory closer. Our heart and our prayers are with the newly deceased servant of God Bogdan. The Odessa diocese of the UOC expresses its sincere condolences to the family of Archpriest Anatoly Kaplun,” the diocese reports.
