The head of the vicariate of the parishes of the Russian tradition of the Metropolis of France (Church of Constantinople), Father Alexis Struve, commented on the decision of the local authorities to demolish the premises used by the Holy Resurrection community in Toulon.
It is reported by rcf.fr.
The Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection in Toulon has been operating since 1976. Its iconostasis, according to parishioners, was created much earlier, in 1937.
The building belongs to the municipality. The contract with him stated that the lease agreement would be valid until “until there is a need for dismantling.”
“Now there is a project of municipal interest for the area, involving the expansion of the street or parking,” officials say.
The community could not find a new place for prayer.
“We have a vague feeling that no one needs us,” Father Alexis Struve, rector of the Resurrection Church, commented on the situation.
Earlier it was reported that the authorities in Toulon decided to dismantle the premises used by the Phanar vicariate community for a future parking lot.
