The municipal authorities of the town of Toulon (France) announced to the local Orthodox Holy Resurrection community (the vicariate of the parishes of the Russian tradition of the Church of Constantinople) that the lease agreement for its church was terminated. This is reported by rcf.fr.
The building is to be demolished to make way for a car park, according to the parish Facebook page.
The parishioners have registered a petition for the preservation of the church in Toulon, orthodoxie informs. “This is an Orthodox church with a 48-year history, closely connected with Europe and, in particular, with Toulon,” believers argue.
Earlier, it was reported that the previous head of the Metropolis of France, Metropolitan Emmanuel, apologized to new parishioners for canceling the tomos for the Archdiocese of Russian parishes at the Phanar.
