OCU failed attempt to seize another UOC temple in Pereyaslav (VIDEO)

On June 23, 2022, supporters of the OCU and representatives of the town authorities of Pereyaslav again staged a provocation in the town. This time their goal was to capture the Assumption Cathedral, which belongs to the religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.

To realize their intentions, local supporters of the OCU, with the assistance of the mayor Pereyaslav Vyacheslav Saulko, held a “meeting” in the local center of culture with a vote to change the jurisdictional subordination of the Assumption Church.

It is worth noting that this meeting was attended by representatives of the territorial community of the town, and not the religious community of the temple. Therefore, it was illegal to decide the future of the cathedral at this meeting.

At the same time, a legitimate meeting of the religious community of the Assumption Cathedral took place on June 12, 2022, at which more than 100 parishioners of the cathedral unanimously voted for loyalty to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The parishioners confirmed their choice on June 23, having gathered for prayer at the walls of their church.

After a joint prayer, Archpriest Ivan Gaduchok, rector of the Assumption Cathedral in the town of Pereyaslav, thanked his flock for their support and loyalty to the canonical Church.

Earlier, representatives of the OCU tried to attempt to loot the property of the Holy Trinity community of the UOC in Pereyaslav.
