Bila Tserkva deputies demand to ban the UOC, but say they do not call for interfaith strife

On June 16, deputies of the Bila Tserkva City Council adopted a statement in which they demand that the authorities ban the UOC. At the same time, they claim that “they do not call for inter-confessional strife.” It is reported by the Rupor Kievshchini.

“In no case do we call for interfaith strife, but we appeal to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a request to support the submission to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of draft Law No. 7204 “On the ban on the Moscow Patriarchate on the territory of Ukraine.”

The author of the project is Nikolai Gopainich, a deputy from the European Solidarity faction. The appeal to ban the UOC on the territory of Ukraine is addressed to the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
