The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirije, addressed a congratulatory letter to the newly elected head of the ROC’s External Church Relations Department, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk.

As previously reported, Metropolitan Anthony of Korsun and Western Europe, who now holds the title of Volokolamsk, became the new head of the DECR of the Russian Orthodox Church.

His predecessor, Metropolitan Hilarion, was relieved of his post as head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department of the External Church Relations by a decision of the Holy Synod of the ROC and appointed head of the Budapest-Hungarian Diocese of the ROC on June 7, 2022.
