The diocese of the UOC in Crimea opposed the decisions of the Council

The Simferopol and Crimean diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church publicly opposed yesterday’s decisions of the UOC council on the independence of the church and stated that it “remains under the omophorion” of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

Also, representatives of the Crimean diocese stated that they voted against the adoption of amendments to the Charter on the management of the UOC.

“Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea drew the attention of the members of the Council to the fact that the current canonical status of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as a self-governing part of the Russian Orthodox Church is optimal,” the diocese said in a statement.
