On May 14, 2022, the head of the UOC-KP Filaret Denisenko celebrated the 56th anniversary of his service at the Kyiv See. This was recalled on the Facebook page of the Kyiv Patriarchate.

On May 14, 1966, Vladyka Philaret was appointed Archbishop of Kyiv and Galicia, Patriarchal Exarch of All Ukraine of the Russian Orthodox Church.

“In the entire thousand-year history of the Ukrainian Church, this is the longest period of continuous service on the Kyiv throne,” writes the press service of the UOC-KP.

Also on May 14, the memory of Hieromartyr Macarius, Metropolitan of Kyiv, Galicia and All Rus, whose relics are in the Volodymyr Cathedral in Kyiv, which remained at the disposal of Filaret after his departure from the OCU, is honored.
