Since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine, when Ukrainian soldiers die, defending the Motherland from the enemy, when innocent people and even children die, when we have millions of refugees in Europe and around the world, when we try our best to help women and children evacuated from war, the diaspora of Europe has not been receiving any support from the Patriarchate of Constantinople, as from the Orthodox brothers in Christ. None!!!
By what canonical or moral right can the Church of Greece, given also the historical faults of the Patriarchate of Constantinople before Kyiv, claim or subjugate the entire diaspora of Ukraine? And without even asking? And in case of disagreement – even try to cause damage?!
As you know, the Patriarchate of Constantinople for this gesture of recognition (granting tomos), which should not be mercenary and ought to be in the form of redress of historical guilt before Kyiv, the capital of modern Ukraine, received free use of stauropegia in Ukraine, including one of the greatest symbolic monuments Of Ukraine – St. Andrew’s Church. But not only stauropegia, almost everything that the Kyiv Patriarchate built was subordinated to it (the Patriarchate of Constantinople), the metropolis called the OCU according to the statute.
And what have we, Ukrainians abroad, received from the Patriarchate of Constantinople as for help, as from our Orthodox brothers who claim to belong to the Apostolic Church?
Unfortunately, I testify that so far no bishop, priest or parish of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Europe has invited us to his church, and our answers have not been answered in order to celebrate at least Easter service for refugees from Ukraine, because we do not have abroad their temples and pray in any room or even in the open air.
You are still avoiding any contact with us, who were recognized together with Metropolitan (Patriarch) Filaret, who was restored to you in canon law. What is wrong with you, our dear brothers and sisters in the faith?
Many people in Europe turn to us, showing solidarity, offering help, and even non-Christians are helping. And from the Orthodox, who seem to want to take care of us, there is still no offer of help to the Ukrainians of the Kyiv Patriarchate or to the Ukrainians in general, at least in the form of support for Easter services or major holidays. Why so? How do you want to take care of the Ukrainian diaspora in Europe, having such an attitude?
