The Vinnytsia diocese of the UOC appealed to Metropolitan Simeon Shostatsky with a protest against the seizure of churches

Metropolitan Varsonofy of Vinnitsa and Bar turned to the ex-Metropolitan of the UOC, who joined the OCU, Simeon (Shostatsky), because of the seizure of churches in the Vinnitsa region by her supporters. The text of the letter was published by the Telegram channel “Maybutne UOC”.

“At a time when the Russian Federation is directing armed aggression against Ukraine, we, the Orthodox citizens of the country, must be more united than ever, defend the interests of our country, provide all possible assistance to our defenders, take care of the wounded and injured, give shelter to refugees,” writes Vladyka . – But, unfortunately, in this extremely difficult time for all of us, on the part of your subordinates, we observe actions aimed not at unity, but at divisions in society. By addressing the clergy of the Vinnytsia diocese of the UOC, you make it clear that you are counting on a dialogue, but the actions of some clerics of your diocese can negate the possibility of any dialogue,” Metropolitan Varsonofy wrote.

He added: “While the Russian authorities are trying to justify their armed attack on Ukraine, in particular, by the alleged “protection of the rights” of UOC believers, such actions bear all the signs of a provocation in favor of the aggressor country… I urge you to take control of the actions of the clergy of your diocese in order to avoid a split in society along religious lines during the war.
