The Russian Orthodox Church continued its missionary work in Africa in Rwanda

On February 17, 2022, the missionary of the Patriarchal Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa, Priest Georgy Maksimov, visited Rwanda. This was reported by the Patriarchal Exarch Metropolitan of Klin Leonid (Gorbachev) in his Telegram channel.

Priest George during the trip held a series of meetings with the priests and laity of this country, “who spoke about the most difficult conditions for the existence of the Orthodox community in Rwanda, which became even more spiritually unbearable after the entry of the Alexandrian Church into unity with the Ukrainian schism.”

As a result of these meetings, two Rwandan Orthodox priests and many lay people converted to the Russian Orthodox Church.

In addition to the clergy of the Church of Alexandria, one priest of another schismatic group in the country and one Protestant pastor also petitioned the ROC to accept them into Orthodoxy. Currently, a plan is being prepared to organize a full-fledged church life in Rwanda in accordance with the country’s legislation, the Patriarchal Exarch reports.

Earlier it was reported that the Church of Alexandria intends to “judge” the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church, who are expanding the exarchate of the Russian Church in Africa.
