Chrysostomos Kallis did not have the priesthood before the “episcopal consecration” in the UOC-KP, – EOC

On February 16, 2022, the Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church commented on the “episcopal consecration” in the UOC-KP of the former Greek Old Calendarist, now the “bishop” of Mariupol and Volnovakha Chrysostomos Kallis. It is reported by Romfea.

The synodal statement says that the reaction of the EOC to this “consecration” is connected with “the appearance on TV channels of a man who presents himself as Bishop of Mariupol and Feodosia Chrysostomos” (in fact, he was initially listed in the UOC-KP as the “bishop” of Mariupol and Dervenochori, in January 2022 his title was changed to Mariupol and Feodosia).

On February 7, 2022, the Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church clarified that this is a former clergyman who was deposed in 2021 by a decision of the synodal court.

Kallis at first joined the Old Calendarists and was “ordained a bishop”, and later was “re-ordained a bishop” in Kiev, and the OCU considers his “ordination” non-existent.

“Mr. Dimitrios Kallis, who introduces himself today as “Metropolitan Chrysostomos”, has no canonicity from the OCU and is in no way and is not considered a bishop of the Orthodox Church,” the Synod of the Church of Greece said in a statement.

As previously reported, Kallis was ordained at Filaret at his own request.
