On February 13, 2022, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine and in agreement with Archbishop Nestor of Madrid and Lisbon, Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the temple premises of the town of Vala do Carregado, located in the suburbs Lisbon, where the Ukrainian Orthodox parish in honor of St. Spyridon Trimifuntsky. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich was assisted by the rector of the parish, Priest Vitaly Gorzov.
During the Liturgy, Father Nikolai delivered a sermon on the topic of Sunday’s Gospel reading about the publican and the Pharisee. After the end of the Liturgy, the priest conveyed to the believers the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, noted with pleasure the fact of the increase in the number of believers and wished God’s help in the development of the parish. After the end of the service, informal communication with the parishioners took place.
Recall that the Ukrainian Orthodox parish in honor of St. Spiridon Trimifuntsky in the suburbs of Lisbon began to operate from November 2021.
