The first liturgy was celebrated in Uganda on the antimension of the African Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church

On February 13, the first Liturgy was served at the antimension of the African Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in Uganda. It was served jointly by Priest Georgy Maksimov and Priest David Lakvo in the parish of St. Michael the Archangel in the village of Obvola, not far from the city of Gulu (Northern Uganda), Patriarchal Exarch of Africa Metropolitan Leonid of Klin said in his Telegram channel.

After the service, members of the parish council warmly welcomed the guest from Russia and expressed their joy on the occasion of the establishment of the African Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. In turn, Priest George delivered a sermon and distributed icons and crosses to the faithful. Then a joint meal was held, the youth was shown a performance introducing the culture of the Acholi people. Later, Priest George and Priest David discussed ways of developing Orthodox life in this region,” wrote Metropolitan Leonid.
