On February 9, 2022, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, the delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church met with the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, His Beatitude Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada Tikhon at his residence. This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
On the part of the UOC, the meeting was attended by the chairman of the UOC Representation to European International Organizations, Bishop Viktor Baryshevsky, the secretary of the Kiev diocese, Bishop Dionysius of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky, the dean of the Obolon deanery of Kiev, Archpriest Volodymyr Tereshchuk, and the dean of the academic church of the Kiev Theological Schools, Archimandrite Dositheos (Mykhailyuk). On behalf of the Orthodox Church in America, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Archpriest, Secretary of the Primate, Priest Alexander Margeritino, and Director of the Office of History and Archives, Alexei Liberovski, also attended the meeting.
The Primate congratulated the guests from Ukraine and spoke about the history and current state of the OCA. In response, Bishop Victor thanked for the meeting and conveyed warm congratulations to His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon on behalf of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry and expressed gratitude for the repeated support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
On behalf of the Primate of the UOC, Bishop Victor conveyed an invitation to the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America to pay a visit to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at any convenient time. Vladyka Viktor spoke about the current state of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the state of church-state relations in Ukraine.
For his part, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon assured of daily prayers for the entire Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its lawful Primate. Issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
Earlier it was reported that on January 30, Bishop Viktor of Baryshevsky and Bishop Dionysius of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral in honor of St. Sergei of Radonezh of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, Cleveland (USA). On February 3, the hierarchs celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in San Francisco. On February 6, the clergy of the UOC concelebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Luke of Crimea in Pompano Beach (Florida) to Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Vicar of the Eastern American Diocese.
