In the province of Victoria (Tanzania) a pastoral seminar for clergy took place. This was announced on February 5, 2022 in Telegram by the Patriarchal Exarch of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa, Metropolitan of Klin Leonid (Gorbachev).
“The first day of the pastoral seminar for the priests of the province of Lake Victoria (Tanzania) was conducted by Fr. Andrey Novikov. The priests were given antimensions and priestly crosses.
In Igoma (Tanzania) we are preparing people for the sacrament of Baptism. A prayer service was served in English, Swahili and Church Slavonic,” the metropolitan reports.
Earlier, Bishop Neophyte of Nyeri did not allow the priest of the Russian Orthodox Church, Priest Georgy Maksimov, with his students, who came to the church at the invitation of the managing priest, to enter the church. In his commentary, he named Fr. George “an emissary of Moscow”, and told him about “the impossibility of serving in someone else’s canonical territory.”
