Metropolitan Amphilochius of Adrianople resigns

On January 18, 2022, the head of the Church of Constantinople, Patriarch Bartholomew, accepted the request for the resignation of Metropolitan Amphilochius of Adrianople. As orthodoxianewsagency.gr informs, the Phanar hierarch resigned for health reasons.

The Metropolitan served as head of the representation of the Patriarch of Constantinople in Athens.

The Patriarch accepted the resignation and thanked the Metropolitan for many years of service and work in this post.

Metropolitan Amphilochius (Stergiou) of Adrianople participated in the “ordination” of a Greek archimandrite to the “bishops” of the OCU in 2019.
