The text of the letter “For the Unity of the Church” by Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin has been published

The publication “For the Unity of the Church” contains the original letter of Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin to His Holiness Patriarch Neophyte of Bulgaria and members of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Bulgarian, as well as its translations into Russian, English and Greek, which were sent to the Primates and Hierarchs of a number of Local Orthodox Churches: Alexandria, Jerusalem, Romanian Patriarchates, as well as the Cypriot, Greek and Albanian Orthodox Churches, Patriarchia.ru reports.

The reason for writing the letter in March 2019 was the discussion that arose in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in connection with the situation in Ukraine, the intervention of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the Ukrainian church issue, and the formation of the OCU from schismatics with its participation.

In the preface to the book, the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarch, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, emphasizes that “in his work, Metropolitan Daniel shows that the actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Ukraine are a violation of a two-thousand-year-old canonical tradition and are caused, among other things, by dogmatic distortions associated with the denial of the principle of catholicity in the Orthodox Church and the proclamation of its head – instead of Jesus Christ – the Patriarch of Constantinople.
