Priest Georgy Maksimov at the “Krapivensky 4” lecture hall informs that in reality in Africa there are much more requests for transfer to the Russian Orthodox Church than 102. There are about half of such clergy wishing to leave the Alexandrian Patriarchate.
The roots of this lie in the erroneous arrangement of church life by the Greeks in Africa, the planting of Hellenism instead of Orthodoxy, while ignoring the needs of the local Orthodox.
According to the cleric, the presence of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa can help the development of Orthodoxy in Africa. This will require colossal efforts and resources.
Fr. George is sure that opponents of the decision of the Russian Church will examine everything “under the microscope”, looking for mistakes, but if you orient yourself at the people who care for the cause of Orthodoxy, you need to be patient and work to correct the unhealthy situation created by the Greeks in Africa. This is not a one-year affair. We have an appropriate perspective, including for the healing of earlier schisms in African Orthodoxy.
Many workers are needed for this business, as the priest believes.
