Metropolitan Gregory (Stergiou) of Cameroon of the Alexandrian Patriarchate states that the African clerics who have left for the ROC are “self-proclaimed Orthodox” or “expelled for various reasons by Orthodox missions of local metropolises,” SFU informs.

“So, these fragmented structures now find an opportunity to be in the church clergy of the Russian Patriarchate. Of course, by what criteria they were adopted and under what conditions it is still unknown. Will they be re-ordained? Will they be accepted in their existing dignity? By what canon law and how will this be explained?” Stergiou says.

“At the same time, remembering the ignorance of the African mentality by the leaders of the so-called Deutsches Afrikakorps, which undertook the implementation of the Africa Plan… I foresee in practice the destruction of the entire Russian theological arsenal, which has so far been used to propagandize against the recognition of the autocephaly of the Church of Ukraine and against the Ecumenical Patriarchy, and I even assume the fall of the generals. As previously reported, among the African clergy accepted into the Russian Orthodox Church, there is not a single old calendarist and not a single defrocked one.
