The latest statements by Patriarch Bartholomew, as well as persistent rumors that he is going to legalize the schism in Macedonia (just like he already did in Ukraine), create the impression that they are trying to form some kind of parallel “Orthodox Church” in Phanar as opposed to that , which already exists from the time of Christ to our time. Bishop Baryshevsky Viktor (Kotsaba) wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“It looks like a prerequisite for belonging to this“ church ”will be the recognition of the“ primacy of power ”of the Patriarch of Constantinople, with which some of the Local Churches (mostly Greek-speaking) and practically all schismatics, for whom the main thing is to obtain“ legitimacy ”by any means, can agree.
Why this parallel “church” is needed is not difficult to guess. Obviously, it will not include Local Churches trying to maintain fidelity to Tradition and the traditional canonical order in the Church.
The actions of Patriarch Bartholomew, by their nature and predictability, are not much different from what he did in the mid-90s, and then and later, the “patriarch” Filaret Denisenko, who took schismatics of all stripes into communication with him only in order to create the semblance of significance and importance in Orthodoxy. How it ended for Filaret is already known today. And if Patriarch Bartholomew continues in the same spirit, then his future can be predicted with a high degree of probability.
But I really would not like that … ”, – writes Bishop Victor.
