One of the most important events in the life of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the celebration of the Day of the Baptism of Kiev Rus, on the occasion of which a procession of the cross took place along the central streets of Kiev, attended by 350 thousand believers. This is stated in the report of the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Onufriy, which he announced at the final diocesan meeting in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
The Primate noted that due to quarantine restrictions, some measures had to be canceled or significantly adjusted.
On July 15, a congress of monasticism of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held at the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra.
The Primate of the UOC thanked the bishops, clergy, monasticism and laity of the Kiev diocese for their participation in the prayer meetings.
On June 15, more than 20 thousand believers from different dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, including Kiev, gathered near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to protect the Church from anti-constitutional laws and discrimination.
On August 21, more than 10 thousand believers of the UOC from all regions of Ukraine gathered again near the Verkhovna Rada to testify to their loyalty to their Church. Orthodox Ukrainians also wanted to meet with Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, who was in Kiev these days.
