Vasily Lomachenko thanked God after defeating Ghanaian boxer Richard Commey in New York on December 11. An Orthodox priest wrote “I really like that he has a cross on his chest and Chrism on his form,” writes Pershy Kozatsky.
First of all, after the brilliant victory, the Ukrainian boxer put on a pectoral cross and said in front of the cameras: “First of all, I want to thank the Lord who gave me this talent, the chance to be a boxer. Many thanks to my team. Thanks to everyone who supports us.”
At the same time, Lomachenko was accused of mercy.
“Victory with Christian mercy roused all the devils. “Excessive mercy – showed weakness.” Is mercy really weakness? But with him and with God – they win,” writes the First Cossack.
